" Bar Ape has created a fantastic ambiance along with its delicious offerings. I tried the famous maple bourbon gelato and my expectations were exceeded; it tasted incredibly fresh and authentic to the source ingredients. The portion sizes were satisfactory, and they allow you to mix flavors which enhances the tasting experience! My only regret is not trying their soft serve. The service was quick and friendly despite the line. I will be coming back for sure to try more seasonal flavors, especially when the weather is warm. Highly recommend! " (*Curated Review*)
" Although I was excited to visit Bar Ape, I found it not as exceptional as I anticipated. The flavors I tried lacked the punch I was looking for, particularly the blood orange, which fell flat. Staff were friendly but I felt the rush from them to get the next customer through. The outdoor atmosphere was okay, but it can be quite uncomfortably hot on sunny days. I did enjoy the gelato's creaminess, though I wish for more flavor variety. I'll consider returning later in the season! " (*Curated Review*)
" Bar Ape is definitely a local gem! The soft serve I had was perfectly creamy, and the featured flavor of the week—blood orange and cinnamon—was a fantastic palette surprise. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality you’re getting, but prepare yourself for long waits during peak season! My only complaint was not being aware of the cash-only policy ahead of time. However, I will surely return to try another new flavor soon! " (*Curated Review*)
" I randomly stumbled across Bar Ape on a hot day and gave it a shot. It ended up being one of the best spots I discovered this summer! I tried the sweet milk gelato and combined it with their peach soft serve, absolutely delicious! The flavor combinations are unique, and they definitely have their creative juices flowing! Cash only is always a bummer, though. Coming back tomorrow for another round! " (*Curated Review*)
" My experience at Bar Ape Gelato was okay, though I wouldn't say it lived up to the hype. While their gelato is undeniably good, the flavors I tried (like the strawberry guava) did not impress me as much as I expected. I appreciate their focus on seasonal ingredients, but I think the balance could have been better in some combinations. The service was friendly but felt a bit rushed, likely due to the constant stream of customers. I'll give it another shot, but I hope to find a flavor that really wows me next time. " Bar Ape is hands down the best gelato spot I've encountered in Toronto. Every week brings new flavor pairings that creatively incorporate local ingredients—last week I tried the lavender lemon twist, and it blew my mind! The texture of the gelato is incredibly smooth, making the experience even better. As others have noted, it is cash only, so be prepared. I'm excited to see what flavors they come up with next; this place will be my summer staple for sure! Highly recommend. " (*Curated Review*)
" I recently visited Bar Ape and was blown away by their flavor selection—so creative and absolutely delicious! I had the chance to try the chamomile and scotch flavor. It was surprisingly delightful! The service was fast, and I appreciated the casual outdoor serving window. However, I did find it a bit annoying that they are cash only; it's 2024 for goodness’ sake! Regardless, the quality of ice cream makes it worth it all. Just make sure to check their Instagram for weekly specials before heading over. Can't wait for my next visit! " (*Curated Review*)
